About

I grew up in Northumberland, England, where the climbing is brilliant, however, climbing was not my first sport. When I was 5 I started swimming and progressed to a reasonable level in this sport before taking up triathlon. These sports were hard and required serious dedication and discipline, so I learnt a lot about hard work and training from doing them.

I began climbing more or less at the start of 2010, although I definitely did a little at the end of 2009, and I climbed once at my friends birthday party many years ago. Before I started climbing I was into triathlon, and before that, just swimming for 10 years or so.

I mainly just bouldered at first, but went on a course called ‘Rock Action’ in the peak district with Katherine Schirrmacher during my first summer climbing and learnt a lot more about sport and trad climbing. After doing this course I got keen to do some more sport climbing and have since been on a number of trips (which you can read about on my blog).

Hello Ben, my name is Xander Taylor. I’m a mad keen climber, and have been forever. I’m 15 years old and our parents are good friends. Your mother reccomended that I get in touch with you because you’re “shit-hot” at climbing and I aspire to be so as well. Hope you reply,

Cheers Mikkel! The motivation is coming back gradually. Hopefully a month in France this summer will remind me how awesome sport climbing is!
